Our proposed paradigm shift – its rationale, its principles and its practical nuts and bolts – is described in three documents in this “Basics” section of our website. The first document, The Original Proposal, is the 25-page policy paper that we created in 2019. The second one, Fish Harvesting Policy – Getting It Right, is the summary presentation we made to the 4th World Small-scale Fisheries Congress (North America) in St. John’s in June of 2022. The third is our May 24, 2024, brief to the Senate Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans, outlining our proposal and the need we see for a paradigm shift in fishery management.
